Pratima Kulkarni in conversation with Manali Srikant Kale

Pratima Kulkarni is a legendary name in the field of performing arts & filmmaking. A familiar face in Hindi Cinema & Marathi experimental theatre, Pratima made her foray into theatre and film making the 70s. Her association with renowned director Vijaya Mehta has influenced Pratima’s style of movie-making & theatre over the years. Pratima Kulkarni received the award for the Best Screenplay by the Government of Goa for the feature film Oh Maria!  Pratima’s prowess extends to education too where she worked as faculty at Actor Prepares, an acting school run by Mr Anupam Kher in collaboration with the Film Industry Welfare Trust from September 2013 to August 2014. She has also directed ‘Antardwand (a teleplay), Educating Rita, Suryachi Pille and Amari Zameen Hamara Aasmaan – a TV series made with a view to educate children about environmental issues among other prevalent issues.   Pratima Kulkarni’s first film as an independent director ‘School’, had the honour of being selected as India’s entry to the Cairo International Children’s Film Festival in November 2005.
